Start to finish, without you on a ladder
One quote covers the whole season. Here is what happens after you accept it.
- 1
Design visit
We walk the property with you, or on our own if you are away, and plan what to light: rooflines, trees, entries. You get a written quote with the total.
- 2
Installation
Lights cut to fit your roofline and fastened with clips, never nails or staples. Timers set so it lights at dusk and goes off when you choose.
- 3
In-season service
Wind, snow and cold are hard on any display. If a section goes dark, call us and we come and fix it. That is part of the job, not an extra.
- 4
Takedown and storage
After New Year we take it all down, label it by location, and store it for you until next season. Nothing goes in your garage.
What we light
Exterior only. Warm white is what most mountain homes choose; pure white, multicolor and red-and-white are all available.
Rooflines and peaks
Eaves, ridgelines, dormers and gables, outlined in commercial-grade bulbs cut to the exact length of each run.
Trees and shrubs
Trunks and branches wrapped, or canopies lit from within. Aspens and spruce both take light well. A 10 ft tree in a medium wrap runs $500 to $650, a 15 ft tree $700 to $950.
Wreaths and garland
Lit wreaths on gables and over garage doors, garland along railings, columns and entries.
Entries, walks and drives
Pathway lights, lit posts and columns, so the way to the door is as welcoming as the roofline above it.
The look we install
Clean lines, commercial-grade bulbs, and nothing inflatable.
These photos show the style of lighting we install. Photos of our own installations are added as the season gets underway.

Lights that last a mountain winter
A display that looks fine in a Denver suburb comes down in the first upslope storm here. Everything about how we install is shaped by that.
Snow load and ice
Lights sit tight to the fascia and clear of where ice dams and snow slides form, so the first big storm does not take the display down with it, and a roof rake does not either.
Wind
Every run is clipped at close intervals and the ends are anchored. A strand that flaps in a 50-mph gust does not last the season.
The install window
Roofs here are safe to work on in October and early November, and dangerous once snow and ice set in. We install early and run the display on timers, so booking in time matters more than it does in Denver.
Homes nobody is in
Most of the properties we light are second homes or rentals. You do not need to be here for the design visit, the install or the takedown, and we send you a photo the evening it is first lit.
Why Fortress
- Crews based in the valley all winter, not driving up from the Front Range
- Insured, with a written quote before any work starts
- The same company that plows your drive and delivers your firewood: one call, one invoice
- Commercial-grade LED bulbs, custom-cut to your roofline
- In-season service, takedown and storage included
- Working on mountain properties here since 1992
How pricing works
Three things set the price: the length of roofline, the number and size of trees, and how hard the roof is to reach. A single-storey roofline costs less per foot than a three-storey peak over a steep drive.
Your quote is one figure for the whole season, and it covers:
- Design and a written plan
- The lights, clips and timers
- Installation
- In-season service
- Takedown in January
- Labeled storage until next year
Rooflines, wreaths and garland are quoted for the property, and returning customers pay labor only in later seasons because the lights are already cut to the house. Tell us the address and what you would like lit, and we will send a quote. There is no charge for the visit and no obligation.

Questions people ask
When should I book?
As early as you can. The safe window for roof work in the mountains is October to mid-November, before snow and ice set in, and our calendar fills in the order quotes are accepted. Early-season installs are run on timers, so the display does not light until you want it to.
When do the lights go on, and when do they come down?
The display runs on a timer from dusk until the time you choose. Most customers have it lit from Thanksgiving week through New Year. Takedown is in January, once the roof is safe to work on.
Do you do indoor trees or indoor decorating?
No. We do exterior lighting only: rooflines, trees and shrubs, wreaths, garland, entries and walkways.
Do I need to be home?
No. Most of the homes we light are second homes or rentals. We can plan the display from the outside, install while you are away, and send you a photo the first evening it is lit.
What happens if a section goes out mid-season?
Call us and we come and fix it. In-season service is part of the price, not a separate charge.
Can you use the lights I already own?
Usually we install our own commercial-grade lights, because we stand behind the whole display through a mountain winter and consumer lights rarely make it. If you have commercial-grade lights in good condition, ask and we will have a look.
How is the price worked out?
Mainly by the length of roofline, the number and size of trees, and how hard the roof is to reach. A wrapped tree runs about $500 to $650 for a 10 ft tree and $700 to $950 for a 15 ft tree, in a medium-density wrap with commercial-grade LED lights that last at least three seasons. Rooflines, wreaths and garland are quoted for the property, and returning customers pay labor only in later seasons because the lights are already cut to the house. Your quote covers design, the lights, installation, in-season service, takedown and storage, and it is the full total before any work starts. There is nothing to add on afterwards.
Do you light HOAs, lodges and businesses?
Yes. Entrance monuments, clubhouses, lodges, retail and restaurant frontages. Commercial work is planned around guest traffic, electrical capacity and property standards, and quoted separately.
